HOW WE KNOW
Every month your body gives you clear signals to indicate where exactly you are in your cycle. Though we are taught there’s a risk of pregnancy every day of our cycles, this is simply not true. There is a limited window of about a week per cycle during which you can conceive, and no more. This is a very important time to be mindful of, for obvious reasons. If you don’t want to get pregnant, this is a great time to use protection, double up barrier methods, and try creative ways of making love. If you want to conceive, it doesn’t matter how much sex you have the rest of your cycle—this is the only week that counts!
The Symptothermal Method utilizes two body signs: cervical fluid and waking temperature. You can learn to track changes in your cervical fluid to be able to clearly identify when your fertile window begins, and when it’s over. You can also learn to take your waking temperature to confirm the changes observed in your fluids. Based on these two crucial signs, you can confidently know where you are in your cycle each day, and can make sexual decisions that are aligned with your needs and desires.
I believe that it is our birthright to know about each phase of our womb cycles. Throughout human history different tribal women have known how to tell when they could conceive. This knowledge was passed down through the generations, and enabled women to have great power in choosing when and whether to bring children into the world. This knowledge is still alive today, and has greatly expanded in the past 100 years.
